WHAT IS REVIVAL?
[Born Again/Reborn/Renewal]
The word “revival” has a number of significant implications.
One definition is “to bring back to life or consciousness”.
In the general religious sense it means to be renewed in interest and to reawaken faith.
When we look back to the Word of God (Bible) and we read the story of the Lord Jesus Christ and his sacrifice on Calvary; the Apostle Paul wrote: [Romans 14:9] “Christ both died and rose, and revived, that he might be the Lord of the dead and living.”
The word revive is translated from the Greek word “ANAZAO” which means to recover life or to live again. Therefore in Bible terms, to be revived is to “be born again”, to pass from mortality to immortality as a new creation with eternal possibilities.
This is confirmed in the Bible when the Lord Jesus Himself says (John 5:24) “Verily, Verily I say unto you, he that believed on he that sent me hath everlasting live, and shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death into life.
Apostle Paul compared carnality and its restrictions with the benefits of spirituality; “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, neigher indeed can be" (Romans 8:7).
The unsaved person cannot know or understand God any more than a blind man can see. A revived person experiences a spiritual relationship with God and can understand Bible terms that are meaningless to the unsaved person. (2 Timothy 3: 16, 17).
Lets see the Book of Acts chapter 2.
This describes the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost. The unsaved people witnessing this event could only ask: “What Does This Mean?” But Peter, the head of all the Apostles, who had been revived by receiving the Holy Spirit, had the answer and responded: This is what which was spoken by the prophet Joel and it shall come to pass in the last days, said God, I will pour out my spirit (ACTS 2: 16,17).
Since the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit was given to us, Christians have been revived in the same way as in Acts 2:4.
There are millions of people in the world and PNG who claim to know and embrace the attributes of the Spirit of God, but deliberately, avoid or ignore the identifiable sign of speaking in tongues.(Mark 16: 17; 1 Corinthians 14:2)
Mankind needs reviving, and Gods Word offers the way. Repent, be baptized and receive the Holy Spirit – Save yourself – accept revival: – no survival without Revival.
